TransUnion Dispute
If your TransUnion credit report contains negative information you should remove it as soon as possible. You must dispute this negative information in order to remove it.
When you dispute a mark on your credit report you are challenging that the mark is accurate or verifiable. Transunion will conduct an investigation into this mark. They will contact the creator of your negative mark and if the mark can not be verified or it is found inaccurate it must be removed.
To dispute a mark you can either dispute it yourself by writing a dispute letter or you can hire a professional credit repair service. If you only have one or two negative marks I recommend writing the letter yourself.
In your dispute letter you must include the mark in question and the reason it is inaccurate. Reasons include; Not my account, item is out of date, information is wrong and more.
However you should be aware that credit bureaus ofter will use stall tactics such as responding to your dipute letter requesting more information. This will be done regardless the need of more information.
This is a stall tactic that is used to encourage people to give up on the dispute process. The reason credit bureaus do this instead of conducting investigations is because they must pay for an investigation. So, you must have some patience when it comes to credit repair and be persistent.
If you have been unsucessful in earlier disputes I suggest a credit repair service. This is because they can use advanced techniques such as; debt validation, escalated dispute information requests and creditor direct interventions.
Which ever method you choose you can have negative information removed from your credit reports and in a recent study in 2004 it is said that 1 in 4 credit reports contain errors that prevent approvals or cause high interest rates.
Do not ever dispute a mark over the phone or online, instead send the letter through the mail it is much more effective.
